This amazing new Barry M Product (Picture from graziadaily.co.uk)

It's called Instant Nail Effect and it's launching on the 29th of september at a price of £3.95.

You paint it over another shade and it cracks creating a pattern - I swear I was thinking about this a couple of week ago and was wondering how I could invent it! Had a shock when I actually saw it on Graziadaily.co.uk! Oh well beaten to it, at least now I get to buy it!

My day in Hollyoaks!

I can't believe its took me sooo long to put up this post! I went to be in the audience for the Hollyoaks music show back in May (the studio is only about half an hour away from me) and I totally forgot to do a post for it until now - actually I was only reminded because I watched Britains next top model and they were looking round the Hollyoaks set!

Here is the McQueens house, I love the McQueens they're such a great TV family! It's so funny though because theres actually nothing behind that wall!

Here I am outside Il Nosh... we got to dance on the tables inside after this was taken!

and by the 'canal', wich is actually just like a little pond in real life! They do some very clever camera trickery at the Hollyoaks studios!

All in all it was a pretty fun day - but we did have to wait around A LOT in between filming! I do not envy TV people.. well actually thats not true, if I was getting paid for it I'd probably love waiting around alot!

Aaaaand a few weeks later I got to see myself on TV!!!! For like a second, but still it was a big moment for me and probably one that wont happen again!

Boots!!!

I want these Boots soo much it hurts a little bit!

Ahh look at them aren't they gorgeous!? These are the Helsan boots by Malene Birger and they retail for about £333. I love the ankle strap and the platform, and the cosy sock detail and the grip at the bottom means they'd a good buy for winter! Also they have a side zip so you don't have to mess about tying up those laces! However at the moment £333 is just a little out of my price range, thinking about it the most I've ever spent on shoes so far is £70! On my list of things to do is to one day own a pair of designer shoes, but alas that day is today! (or even in the foreseeable future!)

Sooo I did a little research to see if I could find similar boots which were a little less pricey and I've decided to share what I found with you!

There are quite a lot of nice boots like this around at the moment...

This pair from Next (£70) are a pretty good dupe - and also have a zip fasten to save fiddliness!

Also from Next are these cute little skater boots (£60) although they lack the time saving zip!

Next up are these Bullboxer boots available from Barratts (£55)

These comfy looking boots are from River Island and come in at £74.99 (no zip by the looks I'm afraid though!)

Although they don't have the lace detail I was looking for, this pair also from River Island, really caught my eye! (£74.99)

And if you liked the RI boots but are looking for something cheaper, this pair from New Look are a bargain at only £29.99

Again they don't have the lace detail I was looking for, but I really like this pair, also from New Look (£34.99)

However I think my favourite lookey likey has to be this pair from Dune - which also just so happen to be the most expensive of the bunch at £125, typical! I just love a chunky platform sole though, and these definitely deliver on that! And they have a zip yay!

Thats enough drooling over boots, time to get some sleep!

Yummy fruit smoothie!

I got a fruit smoothie yesterday from a little stall which I think is called Jugo, it was sooo yummy! It was cherries, pineapple, fresh apple juice and yogurt! Mmmmm! Soo good I will have to try many more!

My Next Perfume

I popped into The Perfume Shop today to get sprayed with a perfume I've wanted to try for a while now, Guerlain's Idylle, and I absolutely love it!

I find it hard to describe perfume, so this is the blurb from the Guerlain website:

"Idylle... Light and airy, an unforgettable love affair, an impulse, an ecstasy. It is waking up with a smile and going to sleep with a memory, it is a thousand details, words, kisses, it is ardour and intensity. It is the hand putting a drop of perfume behind your ear, your ear that strains, listens for the breath of a kiss.
Idylle, a love dream by Guerlain."

Now I would definitely not say it's light and airy! I find it to be quite strong, the sales assistant only put one squirt on my hand and I could smell in on myself for a good few hours after that! And after a good 8 hours I can still smell it vaguely on my hand (and yes I wash them regularly!) So light it is not! I would describe it as quite a sensual fragrance, flowery but with a hint of musk. I think it's quite sophisticated, and not something I've smelt on someone before - don't you hate it when you get a new perfume only to find everyone is wearing it and you all smell the same?!

I like the bottle too which is always a plus, and it is definitely on my list to buy once I’ve used up one of my other perfumes, I worry about them going off if I have too many open at once!

The Asos Haul - The Good, The Bad and the Disapointing...

The stuff I ordered from Asos arrived on Friday and I arrived home from work to find my mum had already opened the box! Grrr! My fault really as somehow it was addressed to her- very strange!

I think I've kept about half of the items, I've sent some back but I'll show you them anyways! I'll start with the returned stuff.

ASOS Watercolour Print and Mesh Dress

I was so excited about this dress from this picture, it looks gorgeous on the model but when I put it on I looked like a potato sack, I guess that's why she's the model and not me! The proportions were just all wrong, the waist came to low and the mesh part (white bit) came past my bra which aint a look I'm after! Very sad!

Iska Lace Top Prom Dress - Black

This dress was too small - in fact most things I sent back were because of sizing problems - one of the things I hate about shopping on the web or from catalogues! But it was also a little wonky which put me off exchanging for the next size :s

ASOS PETITE Two In One Ruffle Front Pencil Dress - Cream/Black

This I loved the look of on but I ordered it too big! And I decided not to reorder in a smaller size because the website said it was a 2 in 1 dress which I took to mean you got a shirt and a skirt which could also be worn separately. This in my eyes would have been great value for money, but alas this was not the case and so I decided for the quality of the product (which would probably have also been difficult to wash and with my washing skills would have turned grey instantly!) it wasn't worth £40. Maybe one to look out for in the sale section!

ASOS Faux Stingray Hexagonal Across Body Bag - Silver

This one got sent back because although it was lovely, for some reason the usable space inside the bag was ridiculously small compared to the actual size of the bag and I could only just fit my phone in! (where's the space for make-up, purse, emergency tissue and all the other many things us girlys need for a general outing?!)

Iska Frill Skirt Dress - Black/Nude

Now this one I did reorder because it was absolutley lurvely on but I once again ordered too small! (might be time to cut back on the pizza!) I'm hoping the replacement will arrive in time for my birthday next week! Fingers crossed!

Now onto the stuff I kept! I haven't taken any shots of me with the stuff on because quite frankly I'm not looking too hot lately (think bloating and break outs!) and would rather not have the photographic evidence of this time!

ASOS Big Collar Cropped Cardigan - Navy

This adorable cardi which I can't wait to wear, although with the kind of summer we're having its more likely that I'll be permanently huddled in my coat!

Gap Lace Trimmed Stripe Vest Top - Coral

This top just because I don't own anything from Gap and this was in the sale.. that's a bit silly really isn't it?! But it is quite cute as well!

ASOS Asymmetric Dipped Side T-Shirt - White

This which I thought I wouldn't like because it's quite plain, but it's actually a really nice, flattering take on the white T. I may even wear it with shorts once I'm able to master fake tan!

ASOS Rib Insert Bodycon Dress - Black/Grey

This I don't exactly love because it's clingy (I know that's the whole point of body con but it's still a scary prospect!) but I kept because it was only £6, not a great reason I know but I'm determined to get rid of the bloat and wear this out sometime!

ASOS Pac A Poncho - Red Sand

And finally this because I'm going to Leeds festival (my very first festival!) and I hear some form of rain jacket is essential - even if it's not raining! (I'm hoping beer is the only liquid that'll get thrown around while I'm there...almost enough to put me off going!)

So there we have it, I'm actually quite glad I had to send some back as I felt guilty about spending that money when I have to give a deposit on a new flat soon - I'm moving to London! Which is very exciting but also terrifying, and I didn't realise just how stressful it is to look for somewhere to live! Anyways enough of my rambling! See you soon!

Asos haul coming soon!

Wayhay, I feel very naughty because I accidently ordered over £100 worth of stuff from Asos! Oops! I will be showing you soon. Also I have just returned from two weeks of backpacking around Croatia and it was Beautiful! And also very minimal in terms of make up - I surprised myself! So I would also like to show you what I took (and I took more than I even used!). I will get to these things asap but right now I am so very tired and have work in the morning *blurgh!*

-    Topshop highlighter in Sunbeam (Near the outer corner of my eyes up to the temple)
-    Make Up Academy blusher (No colour name apparently!)

-    Outer Corners: Max Factor eyeshadow in Burnt Bark (Serious staple of mine now)
-    Eyelid: Collection 2000 Dazzle Me Eye Dust in Lustrous (Gorgeous greeny goldy colour)
-    Inner Corner: Topshop highlighter in Sunbeam
-    Water Line and Lower Lash Line: Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Stash
-    Mascara: Volume Glamour by Bourjois in Noir Ébène (Ebony black)

(Can't remember about lips - think it was just lip balm!)

I have coloured in my handbag!

Yes it was white and it is now multicoloured! Personally I like it, it was a Primark bag which a lot of people probably had and now it's a one of a kind!

And what did I use.... Highlighters! It is yet to pass the rain test so it may be white again before long! We shall soon see!

Holiday!

I thought I'd share a few pics of my recent holiday with you because I was just looking through them and feeling sad that I'm not there anymore!

Here some of us are in the airport on the way there, yes I am wearing pyjama bottoms because it was three in the morning and I was tired and cold and no longer cared what people would think of me! And yes some were already on the ale hehe! We were on holiday after all, I was just on the cola though!

Here we are waiting in Menorca airport for our friend who had come on a different flight and had been delayed, dont we all look happy?!

Here is the villa we stayed in, it was soo lovely I really could not believe my eyes when we got there! You can see why I didn't want to leave!

I don't think I'll put up pictures of the nights out owing to me looking a little drunk on most of them, oopsy!

Pretty Polishes... Unsteady Hands

I got a teensy bit bored last night when I couldn’t sleep so I decided to paint my nails.... all different colours! (Wasn’t in work today so could get away with it!)

This is my left hand – supposedly the easiest to paint but I was very unsteady in my sleepy state!
Starting from the thumb I’ve got:

-    The Edge in Coney Island (Gorgeous colour, looks much brighter in life, but not the easiest formula to work with which is a shame)
-    Virgin Vie Glace for nails in Lollipop (love this one- perfect for toes!)
-    George at Asda polish in No. 34 Be Mine (a bit too thick now, hence the messyness!)
-    Nails Inc. in London (One of the Diet Coke specials – and a new fav!)
-    N.Y.C Foil Enamel in Foil For You (This is just one coat – such a great polish!)

These are some of my current favourites, Coney Island is my newest polish which I got after popping into a Salons Direct for the first time – was only in there for a minute and was in a panic because I felt like I had to buy at least one thing - and this was it! Love the colour but the formulas bit difficult and kinda wish I’d gone for a Shrek O.P.I polish but didn’t see them until I was on my way out! *oh well* it was pretty cheap anyway at about £2.30 I think so formula problems can be forgiven.

On the right hand I have (again from the thumb!):

-    La Femme Beauty in Ultra Gold (Bought from the market for like a pound! Wore it a lot last summer!)
-    Nails Inc. in New York (Another of the Diet Coke polishes but I don’t think I like it, not sure why, I think I just prefer creamier colours at the moment)
-    Maybelline Colorama polish in Jelly Bean (Love this colour! Had it for years though and when I put it on last night it had gone all gloopy  need to repurchase!)
-    No. 17 polish in Rich Chick (another I’ve had for a bit too long – but can still get it to work just about! It’s a lovely purple colour with gold shimmer in it)
-    Collection 2000 in Foxy (great colour in one coat and buildable, very nice!)

And did I stop there? Oh no I did not! I then proceeded to play with the glitter polishes I have and never seem to use!

From left to right:

-    Bourjois in Paillettes Disco
-    Vivo (I appear to have pulled the sticker showing the name off this!)
-    Vivo polish in Glitzy
-    Maybelline Colorama top coat in Flames of Amber (I love this; it’s like little bits of shiny orange foil, so much nicer than regular glitter!)

Definitly gotta be careful when putting glitter over colour polishes, it looks really awful over Coney Island and Be mine (Both had the silver Vivo over) but really pretty over others. I put Glitzy over Rich Chick and that had a really nice effect and Bourjois over Jelly Bean looks gorgeous – and hides the bumpiness of the polish! Maybe it worked over these because they were already shimmery colours?
Flames of Amber is the gem though, I put it over Lollipop and Ultra gold and it looks so nice I really must use it more! And it dries smooth and shiny rather than feeling a bit gritty like the other ones did which really is a bonus for me!

All in all a productive and informative night of sleeplessness!

Rapunzel Rapunzel Give me your Hair!

I am totally lusting after these Rapunzel Rapunzel hair extensions after seeing them on SWalkerMakeup's Youtube channel in her video about Clip-in highlights, I have doing so well with not spending money on clothes and make-up this past month (although I've more than made up for it with holidays, trips away an nights out, oops!) but I know as soon as I start spending again I'm probably gonna go overboard like usual! So going to try and hold off on buying them for a bit, but these are only £54.99 for 18 inches and from what I've seen of hair extensions of this length I think thats a really decent price!

And I also want the highlights that they offer! (See once I start with the spending....!)

How great do all those colours look! And they're only £12.99 for a pack - wonder how long it will be before I give in and order!

Im Back!

I have been soo busy I havn't had a chance to write any posts for like a month! I've been doing some serious job hunting - figured it was time to up my game - and it payed off! I have been offered a job near London (I quite fancy living in London though so will be looking for a place there, any advice would be so welcome!) but I don't have a start date yet. I was due to go travelling for 3 weeks next week but they're keen for me to start asap and I'm not so good with the negotiating thing! Need to pluck up some courage! So I hope to be doing a lot more post and I have lots of things I want to tell you about - Gotta stop being so rubbish!

Quickie post to show you what I get up to when I'm bored!

I decided to use the Famous by Sue Moxley Eyeshadow and Eyeliner kit, I have a picture on this blog somewhere but I don't have it on this comp to add here, will try later.

Anyway I decided to use my lovely little sister as a model and did a little design inspired by the packaging of the product to see how they fare

Here is the result, sorry it's a little photo heavy!

Isn't she cute! The shadows worked better than expected, I basically did this using a cup of water just to wet the pallete, felt a bit like working with water colours! The brush provided is a bit useless though, and the pink is nothing like the one shown on the packaging which I thinks is just silly and misleading. Product photos should be true to the actual product otherwise it ust leads to dissapointment, seems a little counter productive, especially when a brand is just emerging, they should strive for a good reputation I think.

Bit of a tangent! Sorry! So I think I mite try and do more like this in the future, sometimes it's great just to have a bit of fun and a play with make-up don't you think?!

The Body Shop Haul

I don't know why its taken me soo long to put this up, but a couple of weeks ago I found a 50% off discount code for The Body Shop and of course I used this as an excuse to shop and buy and be greedy! I put the code on my Twitter to share it with you all but I didn't do a post because it ran out the night that I found it :( hence my frantic spending! I didn't buy any make up because I'm still on a ban at the moment - I think I'm going to stay on the ban until my birthday (August) but I don't know if that's being waaay over ambitious considering I already cheated! (I bought a nail polish yesterday *slaps hand*).

Anyway I bought a lot so instead of writing it all down I did a screen shot of my shopping basket!

I got a little carried away but I just kept thinking that I might as well because it's going to be half the price! I would have gotten soo much more but the website must have timed me out or something and emptied my basket! I honestly could have thrown the laptop there and then; it really annoys me when websites do that! And I couldn't remember everything that I had in my basket, so Body Shop if you're reading you could have had more sales from me if it weren't for that! At least it saved me a bit of money!

I haven't bought anything from the Body Shop in a good few years, I've had a couple of gift sets for Christmas but that's about it. I was a bit dubious actually when L'oreal took it over because I thought that would be the end of the fairtrade, ethical background that made the brand so famous. I'm glad to see that the principals are still there, but I had forgotten how expensive it is, has it always been that pricey?!

I got the Oui Oui Oui purely because of what I've heard about it from various blogs including lollipop26writes.com so I can't wait to try that! I was really trying to remember things I've read about so that I could give them a go while I had such a good discount but that was the only thing! I haven't really tried anything out yet but I am going to take some of it away with me so I will let you all know how I get on! Until then let me know what you're favourite Body Shop items are so that next time an offer like this comes along I can have a little shopping list ready!

Hauls Galore!

I have soo many hauls to show you I’m a little disgusted in myself! It seems that I have very little willpower! I keep telling myself that because they were all ‘bargains’ it’s OK… denial!

I’ll start at the beginning! I bought all of this about a week ago; they really were bargains! I've already talked about the Topshop stuff so I'll give that a miss.

This little lot was bought from the market – oh how I love the market!

The foundations were £4 each – four pounds for a No. 7 foundation! Of course I had to get two! It’s not just that I’m greedy, honest! I got the Rimmel Recover because when it first came out (about 3 years ago now!) I went through about four bottles in a row, so I wanted to see if I’d still like it today! And the concealer (£2) because the circles under my eyes are getting out of control so I think I need to up my concealing game to hide them, I’ve just been using foundation till now and it’s no longer making a dent! Oh and a couple of cheap £1 eyeliners because mine keep disappearing and it’s not worth getting pricey ones as they’ll be sucked into the black hole I seem to have in my room after about a day!

I got the No. 7 foundations in Porcelain and New Ivory and although I really like the formula of this foundation, and how easily it goes on, I didn’t expect them to be so dark in colour. It’s not like they’re overly dark, but when you’re as pale as I am you want your face to match your neck! And yeah from the names of them I just expected they would be very pale, shall just have to use fake tan more often I guess! Oh and I no they don’t say they are, but they are not transfer resistant at all! I destroyed a new white T-shirt today when I pulled it right over my face without thinking! Oops!

This bunch was from T J Hughes, if you have one near you it’s well worth looking in because the make up is cheapedy cheap!

There is some GOSH eyeshadow trios (only £1.50!) in Dating doll (purples), Girlie Green and Minty Mate; Model Co. Bronzer (£3.99) which is very shimmery and a little bit darker than what I’m used to, but hopefully will work for me on holiday! a Loreal touché éclat rip-off called touché magique (£2.99)! A Stila foundation, Loreal Double Extension Beauty Tubes (£4.99) and Bourjois Volume Clubbing UV Mascara??? (£3.99) No idea what to expect from this but it had to be bought to try it!

I have been using some of the Gosh trios over the past week and I have to say they’re not overly pigmented and come out more like a shimmery wash of colour. They’re subtle but I don’t think this is such a bad thing for a daytime eye in the summer and I quite like them so far. I can’t really complain at that price anyway – though I don’t know if I’d be so complacent if I’d paid full price for them.

The Loreal Beauty Tubes mascara was a repurchase for me, I liked it mainy cos I find it so satisfying to pull off the mascara at the end of the day – probably very bad for my lashes though! I’ve also had Bourjois Volume Clubbing before, it took me a while to master the brush as it’s only got bristles on two sides, but once I did I found this to be a really good volumising mascara. Can’t wait to see what happens to this one under UV light! Exciting!

So you see, they were all bargains, I couldn’t not get them!

Oh I did pop into Boots because I had a girt card left over from Christmas and what did I get?

More mascara! I’m gonna try and only open one or two at a time so they don’t all dry up on me.I'm currently using the Dream Lash and so far so good. It's very black and volumising which is just what I like!

And because I got given a No. 7 £5 off voucher (such a mean trick as it basically forces me to buy more – I can’t let a good voucher go to waste!) I got the Stay Perfect Smoothing and Brightening Eye Base. I can’t wait to use this with pigments, I’m hoping it’ll really intensify the colour and increase staying power, yes I have high hopes for this! Perhaps because it’s the first eye primer I’ve ever bought!

So that’s one days haul! Still two more to go! Sorry this was such a long post! Thanks to anyone who actually read to the end!

OOTD and FOTD - Dark Green eye make up look

Here is my OOTD, or really I should say OOTN because I wore this out a couple of nights ago. I look so wierd in this picture!

So, gold cardi and green skirt were both from H&M, and the cardi was in the sale, bonus! I find that I go through stages with H&M; sometimes I love it and sometimes they have absolutely nothing that interests me! Not always a bad thing as it means I'm not spending money everytime I wander in! Black tank top, tights and chain belt all from Primark, necklace from Topshop and the shoes I bought from Liverpool market but I saw the exact same ones in New Look a week later!

Face: The usual cheapo combintion! Laval foundation, Lizzie translucent powder and 17 limited edition bronzer

Lips: Playboy lipstick in December (tacky I know but they have a few lovely colours!) and Lancome Juicy Tubes in Strawberry

Eyes: Super Nova by Too Faced all over the lid (basically just a plain black), Urban Decay 24/7 eyepencils in Covet and Zero. Covet lining the whole eye and Zero on the waterline, and Bourjois Volume Glamour mascara in ebony black. I needed quite a dark eye so that it would be visible through my shaggy fringe!

Mini Topshop Make up Haul

Sooo first things first, I finally got down to Topshop today to take look at their new make-up. I had a whole list of things I wanted but when I got there I was surprisingly good – maybe because I’d already bought tonnes of make-up elsewhere! (I’ll get to that later on!)

Here’s my hand after having been in the shop! I didn’t go too crazy because there was a shop lady tidying and cleaning all the make-up and I felt bad hovering around her!

(Left to right: Metallic Kohl in first light; Metallic Kohl in Moontide; Crayon in Sunshower; Crayon in Moonshine; Lipstick in Brighton Rock; Kohl in Thistle; Lip Stick in Rosa; Crayon in Sea; Kohl in Coal; the shiny pink patches are the lip polishes in Smoothie and Coral- the colour pay off didn’t seem great with them)

And this is what I ended up going for:

Kohl in Thistle, Metallic kohl in First Light and the Highlighter in Sunbeam

I have to say I am sooo happy with what I got! The highlighter and Thistle kohl had been on my wish list, but I had expected to want the crayon in Sunshower, when I saw it though I realized I had an Urban Decay pencil of exactly the same colour which can do the same job and to be honest can look a bit too garish on my pale skin! Maybe when I’ve got a bit of a tan! I did really like the Crayon in Sea and also the Lip Stick in Rosa, but not so much that I had to have them there and then, I’ll wait a while and if I still want them in a few weeks I’ll get them then – trying to be a little bit sensible!

The highlighter is just lovely, and it looks so nice on the eyes as well, will try put up a face pic with it on soon (I’m looking all messy having been to work and then shopping! Long day!) It’s something I can tell I’m going to use a lot this summer! I’m thinking maybe I’ll get another and have a little giveaway?!

I love the colour of Thistle, but I knew I would it’s just my kinda colour! I have a few eyeshadows this colour but not an eyeliner so I feel justified in buying it!

The real surprise is the First Light kohl, I hadn’t really looked at it on the website (their photo is bit pants!) but it really caught my eye when I swatched it. It’s the most beautiful silver-purple colour, very metallic and really pretty! My photo doesn’t do well to capture the purple/lilac tones in it and I cannot wait to wear it!

Something else that looked a lot nicer in real life than on the website is the eyeshadow trio sunstar, the red in it is just gorgeous and I may get it just for that!

I bought quite a lot of foundations as well today for some weird reason! But I put the rest of what I bought in another post because my internet is going funny on me!

Wish List!!

I'm going to topshop tomorrow armed with a gift voucher and a long list of make up that I want! Yay! Below are some pics of the things I think I want (but obviously will be having a little test of them first to make sure!) The colours with stars by them are the ones I like best currently - but it could all change tomorrow!

I also think I want the Brighten thing and the Neon Rose blush. I don't think I want any lipsticks - I think they're overpriced, and I'm avoiding lip glosses at the moment because I have too many and always forget to wear them! I will be looking at the lip polishes tho, I think they look really cute and Coral looks like such a lovely colour! Anyway, we will see!

Anybody tried anything already? Whats to be snapped up/avoided?!

Here is a clumsily put together collage type pic of what I wore for a night out last week! (Still playing around with the photoshop!) I was going for a 'I just threw this together' kind of indie cool look! And of course I wore some super long extentions, I actually have to pin up most of my hair to get these to look natural! Its practically a wig!

Excuse the wine glass! These were actual pictures from the night out and I wasn't planning at the time on putting them up here!

This was very much a budget outfit, Cardigan, grey top and tights all being from Primark, and the necklace is also from Primark but is actually meant to be a hairband! The Earrings are not very visible but they are one of my favourite pairs and they are from Republic.

The Boots I have shown on the blog before and they are from Faith. The belt was from a great little second hand store in Sheffield, (I used to live there) can't remember what it's called but for anyone who is based in Sheffield it's inside the Forum, the store where the girl is sitting at her sewing machine! Well worth checking out if you can. Oh and the shorts I bought a few years ago in America, they cost me $20 I think, total bargain with what the exchange rate was at the time!

Hope you like these kinds of posts, I know I absolutley love to see what everyone else has been wearing! Much better than looking in a magazine!

Topshop had a sale!

... Unfortunately none of the clothing items I tried on looked any good (including this gorgeous dress which fitted beautifully but was the colour of my skin and so made me look naked... darn you nude trend!) but I had good fun looking around the jewellery sale, at half price I nearly look it all home! But I stayed rational and only picked out a few pieces:

Two pairs of earrings, a necklace and the little pooch is a ring! The fish I got in the last Topshop sale and I’m just showing in here as I’ve been wearing it with the ring and looped earrings, my theory is that they all match because they have animals on!

I love the charms on the earring aren’t they so sweet?! And the fish is one of my favourite necklaces. I have to give top marks to Topshop for jewellery design but unfortunately their jewellery still tends to smell funny after you’ve worn it a lot (you know that weird metallic smell), albeit it doesn’t happen as quickly as it does with Primark jewellery. Does anyone know how to get rid of that smell?

I also spied some half price eyelashes and of course had to get them too!

I’m not very good at putting eyelashes on, it takes me forever and I’m always late as it is, but I’m determined to wear the purple pair out somewhere! I think they’re gorge, but the leopard pair I did just buy for the sake of it! I’ll have a little play with them but I can’t see them being very flattering!

I also popped into boots just to have a little look, and I bought these two 17 Lasting Fix lipsticks because they were on offer at 2 for £6! I got two bright pinks (because the sun was shining and it made me very attracted to bright colours!) Pink Power, the very very bright pink on the left and Hawaii Pink on the right!

I can show you how Hawaii Pink looks on because I wore it to work today (again because it was sunny!)

I think it looks a lot brighter that this in life, but it's surprisingly easy to wear for such a bright colour!

They've got good pigmentation to them but aren't the best lipsticks and as you can probably see they can look a little chalky, but I don't know if thats just because my lips are dry and at that price you can really complain!

They also had an offer on where if you bought two 17 products totaling at £6 or more, you’d get a free gift, so I also got these:

Viva Diva eye shadow, Azure eye pencil and Knockout Red nail polish, and they came in a cute little tin! Haven’t had a chance to play with them yet but defo looking forward to that!

All in all a small but satisfying shopping trip! And at least my bags weren’t too heavy!

Oh by the way I tried to take these photos on my new 12MP camera but turns out it is RUBBISH at close-up shots so I ended up taking these on my phone camera! Bit annoyed about that!

You’re Bluffing! By Benefit

I had to do a review on this item because it’s the one thing I’ve carried around consistently in my bag for the past two years. I don’t use it every day but if I do look in my bag and discover I’ve forgotten it, I get a slight pang of panic! This dependence scares me slightly; it means Benefit has this power over me! What if they ever decide to discontinue?! Let’s hope that never happens!

So it all started on Christmas day two years ago when my Nan gave me this concealer as a Christmas present. My Nan is a sweetheart in this way as she, like me, is a bit of an English rose (such a nice way to put it!), very pale in skin tone with rosy cheeks that have a tendency to turn practically beetroot (not such a good look) when embarrassed/hot/drinking or even when were being greedy and have eaten too much! (That’s mostly me!) So when she finds something that works well for her she’ll recommend it to me, or give it to me as a present! And this was a very much appreciated present!

I used to use it a lot more than I do now, using it in a sort of preemptive manner, but I just found myself putting more and more on and eventually turning yellow! I then realised that sometimes I could get through a day without turning a horrendous shade of red (but not very often!) and it was much less wasteful just to use this when I needed it. Also sometimes I’ll just get a patch of red in a random place like on one cheek! Does anyone else get this?! It sometimes crops up on my neck and chest as well and so sometimes in cases like that I’ll only need to use this on a patch to even me out.

But you don’t have to glow in the dark cheeks for this to be useful to you; I often find it very useful when concealing a very red spot, or when your nose, or that area where your nose joins up with your cheek gets very red. This does mean I use this product a bit more regularly in the winter! I would say be careful with your application if you’re wearing it in the day, there have been a few occasions were I’ve applied this in a place where the lightings not that great and then looked in my mirror while I’ve been out and about only to find my nose/spot is now yellow instead of red! This is slightly more preferable to me but not exactly natural looking!

So I would say if you have a problem with facial redness whether it be on your nose or cheeks this is a great product, and one that I currently would not be without! And no it ain’t so cheap at £17.50, but each one has lasted me very well. I have owned three in the last two and a bit years so each one lasts me the best part of a year, not bad! (My latest is only a couple of months old)

But if you have found an alternative product to this that you couldn’t be without, or know of a cheaper product that could work just as well, please let me know and I’ll be happy to try it out! If only to find something I could use should Benefit ever discontinue You’re Bluffing!

Fringe Envy

Had my haircut last week, here’s a quick snap I took in the toilets afterwards, before the rain got to me and ruined it all!

(I look so tired here - I think I need to be getting more sleep!)

Now here is the picture I gave in for how I wanted the fringe to be:

Not really what I got! I wanted choppy and textured but I got thin feathery! Maybe my hairs just not thick enough

But I definitely won’t be returning to that hairdresser because she cut my hair so that it was visibly wonky – not a look I was going for – and then completely denied it when I asked her to even it out!

I’ve been finding it so hard to find a hairdresser that I like, so when I find ‘the one’ I’ll be sticking to them like glue!

P.S. I love Taylor Momsen bleach blond look, she pulls it off so well with her rock chick image! I wish I could try it but I think my hair would fall off! Maybe a wig….?

He's just not that into you

Yes I have been reading this book! Mainly because it came free with my issue of Glamour magazine from quite a few months ago now! (I have almost finished it! It takes me a while but I get there in the end!)

I know I’m a bit slow of the mark with this one, and I haven’t even seen the film yet, (although I really want to now that I’ve almost finished the book!) but I wanted to do a little post on it because I did quite like it and it was an interesting read! Honestly most of it is stuff you already know, like ‘he’s just not that into you if he’s having sex with someone else’! - You know it; it’s that tiny voice at the back of you’re head that you simply ignore when you don’t want to hear what it has to say! Or you argue with it and make excuses! (I’m not saying I’ve been in that situation, I’m just using it as an example! But a lot of the things in this book rang true for some of my past relationships! ) This book is like a little reminder that you have that voice for a reason, it’s just you’re common sense trying to help you! And it helps that the book is funny, I don’t think I’d have read it otherwise!

This book really did make me reflect on my past relationships and how I sometimes let my heart overrule my head! Isn’t it strange how we listen to our common sense in most other situations but when it comes to matters of the heart for some reason we think we shouldn’t! I think that’s because common sense and emotions are a little like oil and water and don’t seem to mix very well. Although life would be very dull if we always listened to our heads! Sorry little ramble there!

But I don’t know if I totally agree with it! I think we’ve got to cut the guys a little slack, yeah it’s great to find a guy who really likes you and will make it clear to you, but what about the genuinely shy ones? I once asked someone out and it was honestly the most terrifying thing ever! I don’t think I could bring myself to do it again and so there must be hoards of boys who just can’t take the pressure! It can’t all be that clearly cut can it?! But again if it was it would be no fun at all would it?!

So anyway, I think this is a great little read, funny, easy-going and reminds you that sometimes you should listen to your instincts! Or not! Hey, life is for living after all, gotta kiss some frogs and all that! But either way girlies just remember that most boys will come and go, but there will always be more! And as my sister says: “mates before dates!” Think she’s onto something there!

Shiny Happy Shoes!

Bit of a random post just to let you all know if your shoes are looking a bit sad and worn out, like mine were:

(They look so old and wrinkly!! These boots are about 3 years old by the way and the only shoes I have ever made last that long I think! Normally shoes don't last 5 minute after I've been walking about in them!)

You can use Instant Self Shine Shoe Cream by Punch to revive them like so:

It’s really easy to use as the bottle has a sponge attached to the top, you just rub it on, leave it to dry and et voilà- my boots are like new again! Makes me feel so happy to look at them!

This is an outfit I wore on a night out when I went to visit my friend in Sheffield we can become a bit messy when we get together as you can probably tell by all the clothes thrown across the floor! I know it’s a bad photo but I really like this kind of a casual and effortless look every once in a while rather than being totally dressed up to the nines every time I go out! Takes a bit of pressure off the night as well because I’m not worrying too much about my outfit or feeling uncomfortable!

(My head has turned into a ball of light!)

The top is from H&M, leggings and cardi are both Primark and the boots are from the kids section in Asda! (cheap but turned out they are not at all waterproof and I’ve had some very cold feet when it’s rained!) The bag is a recent purchase from the sale in Dorothy Perkins, I love finding a bargain!

Also have a little FOTD, I just did a brown smokey eye with lots of mascara and a little lip balm. I also backcombed the ends of my hair a little, I was going for a vampy volumous look but I’m not sure I really pulled it off!

Hmm maybe a little too frizzy... I'll master it someday!

New lip combo!

By a happy accident the other day I found a new lip combo made from two lipsticks that are okay but not particularly exciting to me:

The red one is from Superdrug, it’s a 2true glossywear lipstick in no. 8 that I picked up on their 3 for £5 offer. As you can see it is shimmery and the colour is quite sheer, which I don’t mind, but it does come out a bit patchy and as a result I never really reach for it.

The next one is a Rimmel moisture renew lipstick in Nude delight (700), which I actually really like, it’s lovely and creamy and covers really evenly. The only problem is that I don’t think it suits my complexion, there are no pink tones in it, which because I’m very pale I quite often need to stop my looking ill!

So neither of them much good to me on their own but… mix them together and I get a colour that I love, love, love! And because they’re both quite glossy the result is a lovely shiny lip! I’m very happy that I can now use both of these lipsticks up! Will have to go through all my other forgotten lipsticks to see if I can make any other usable colours… just another excuse to play around with my make-up!

This is the make up I wore for a night out last week, (gotta try and get these up faster!) It’s basically just a purple smokey eye, something I wear a lot! I find purple so easy to wear.

So here’s the pic, I think I rubbed some of the left side off, I really have to stop doing that!

This is most of what I used, the only thing missing here is my foundation and powder I think which are just the same cheapy ones I used in my last FOTD (once lent is over the first thing I will be buying is some nice foundation so any suggestions will be very welcome!).

Face: Laval foundation and Lizzie translucent face powder

Eyes: The urban decay pencils shown hear are Zero and Rockstar, I got the 24/7 super stash set for Christmas and it has been well loved! Although I am scared to sharpen them as they are so tiny!
The purple eye shadow is Mambo by Stila, I love this, the photo makes it look a bit blue but in life it’s a gorgeous iridescent purple! The other eye shadow I am less pleased with, it is Super Nova by Too Faced, a black eye shadow with a peachy pink running through. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it was not a black eye shadow with a tiny bit of purple glitter in, hmm! At least it serves as a pretty decent black eye shadow! I just realised I forgot to photograph the mascara I’m using at the moment! It’s Volume Glamour by Bourjois in Noir Ébène (Ebony black).

Lips: Chap Stick Flava craze lipbalm in Watermelon, Mmm! And Lancôme Juicy Tubes lip gloss in Strawberry Sorbet. A very fruity lip!

Oh and I had my hair extensions in to thicken my hair up – I love the look of thick hair! My hair not exactly thin but I can never seem to get this effect naturally, even with thickening products, maybe I’m doing it wrong?

My prayers answered?

I’m certainly hoping so! About a month ago I got a little tip from a friend that these Superdrug skin, hair and nails tablets were practically the same as the big brand alternative Perfectil, and she told me they really worked for her… but not before she’d taken them for three months! Well I’m willing to commit if it’s going to make me beautiful! So I went in to the nearest Superdrug on the very same day (keen!) and found they were Bogof (buy one get one free!) so I promptly bought two packets. Thinking back I really should have pick up four seeing as I’m going to have to take them for at least three months if I want to see a difference and each pack gives a months worth, I’m not the sharpest tool in the box! *oh well*!

I had a bumper pack of Boots multivitamins to finish off before I started these (literally lasted me over a year, mainly because I never remember to take them everyday! I will have to make an effort to be more consistent with these!) so I only took my first one yesterday! I’m not expecting miracles but I will keep you updated on anything I do notice. I think I’ll be able tell if they’re doing their job from my nails – I have terrible nails! They’re weak, brittle and split as soon as they get even a little bit of length, so I normally have to keep them short to stop them looking tatty. If I end up with lovely strong long nails then we’ll know these things work! Has anyone else tried these? Or Perfectil for that matter? I’d be interested to know who they’ve worked for!

Phone Blingage!

The other night I decided I was absolutely sick of the sight of my phone! But without being able to afford a new one, (without getting tied into a 24 month contract! That’s two whole years! I could just about deal with the 18 month ones) I wondered what to do about it…. Then I remembered that in the January sales I had bought these lovely little crystal stickers in Accessorize! Even thought they’re technically for an ipod nano I think (which I don’t own!), I could not resist the 70% off sticker!

So I went about trying to make them fit my phone – which didn’t go too badly since the little round camera bit happens to be the same size as an ipod wheel! With a little creative cutting this is what I came up with:

And I even had some spare to put on the front!

So even though I know it’s not the best attempt, I like it! It’s brightened up my phone and makes me smile when I get it out! Just a few points though – the crystals are not very firmly attached you can probably see I have already lost a few, they started to come off immediately in fact, partly because I dropped it right after I finished! But that’s something I do A LOT with this phone so I needed to make it drop proof! I tried to do this by coating it with clear nail polish, which has made the stones more secure but has also taken away most of their shine which is a little sad! But hey you learn by experimenting! So has anyone else blinged their phone? Or maybe decorated it some other way? Let me know!

OOLW (Last week!)

Ok so it’s took me a little while to get around to doing this post! I’ve been very lethargic lately which I’m hating – need to get myself to some sort of exercise class to gain some energy or something! Basically I went on a birthday night out with the theme leather – so what sprung to mind? Skirts, trousers, cute little shorts maybe? Eventually I realised I would have to go for the best looking but cheapest option! So I got myself onto Ebay and found myself this cute little number! Now when it arrived I realised it was so cheap (a snip at just £9!) because the leather was like cardboard – good for shoes but not so great to wear as clothing! Hopefully though that’s not so obvious when I’m wearing it.

(This is me being a bit experimental with the old photo software! I know it looks a bit odd!)

So I went for the slightly girly look over full on rock chick because to honest I got cold feet and started to worry I’d be the only one who turned up in leather… and how right I was! People turned up with lame excuses like “my shoes are leather” or “my belt is leather”! I wouldn’t mind but even the person whose idea it was just the shoes/belt excuse! (They always are! What was the point of making it a theme night if your just gonna look normal!!) Luckily I like to think I just looked like I’d decided to rock embrace the leather look but imagine if I’d gone all out and turned up in something like a leather cat suit! I’m definitely not brave enough to carry that off on my own! Although I wish I was (props to anyone who does!).

Oh and just want to mention the shoes, as lovely as they are, are far too big for me and I did fall over in them! Double embarrassment! It may be a while before I dare to wear them again!

Face of the day….kind of!

I liked my make-up today until I took a picture of it! Hopefully I looked better in the flesh! :s Even though I look a bit shiny I was quite pleased with my eye make-up here although I’m afraid this pic doesn’t show it very well!

I put apricot and brown shadows on my lids and teal liner underneath and of course lots of mascara! I love that little pop of colour the liner gives to an otherwise neutral eye.

It’s a look I saw on a blog a while ago (can’t recall which one) and it’s become quite a staple for me! It’s so quick and easy it’s great for me seeing as I always seem to be rushing!

So the full rundown of what I used is as follows:

Face: Larval foundation – cheap as chips and not in any way special – the only reason I keep coming back to it is because it’s a pretty good match for my skin colour and I can pile it on and its doesn’t turn me orange!

Equally as cheap Lizzie translucent face powder (my skin probably hates me!) and a touch of Boots 17 limited edition bronzing powder

Eyes: (what a horrible pic!) An apricot colour Playboy eye shadow from a duo set called Party, a gorgeous brown Max Factor eye shadow (which I can’t find right now to tell you the name :s), Collection 2000 kohl eyeliner in Teal and Max Factor Masterpiece beyond length mascara in tanned black (probably should have been thrown away already, I have a habit of keeping things way past their prime!)

Lips: Bourjois rouge hi-tech water-based liptint in Rouge futuriste and Stila lip glaze in Spiced Pumpkin

So I need to learn to take a better picture! And maybe I need to get a better camera - I just use my phone at the moment! And some nice foundation! I'd like to do a few reviews - including one on the mascara because it was one of those double ended ones with a coloured mascara on the other side so I will try do that very soon, in the meantime whats your 'go to ' eye make-up look?

Last haul before Lent.... and it was at Primark!

On Monday I popped into Primark, just to have a little look - I am as yet unable to walk past and resist its pull! Will defo have to work on that! I picked up just a few bits and bobs, if I’d known I was going to give up shopping for Lent I probably would have gone to a lot more shops and bought a whole out more out of panic! So on my last shopping venture for a little while I bought:

- This cute little top, it looks like a shirt on the pic but it doesn’t button up. I actually wore it to the cinema that night and forgot to cut the tag off! :s It's a good job it was freezing in that cinema and didn't take my coat off, I actually didn't realise it was still on until I got home!

Its not a v. good pic but I really like tops with frilly little sleeves - I think they balance me well, and it ties at the back to make me look like I have a waist. It is sheer though so a vest top is required for underneath!

- And all of this! Everything I bought was very girly and pink! I think it was because it was really sunny before I went in and I was hoping spring might be on the way (cue butterflies, cute little bouncing bunnies and baby deer!), but when I left the shop it was raining again *sigh*. Still, I'm happy with my purchases, apart from the little flowery black earrings you can just about see in the middle - they broke as soon as I tried to put them in! I guess that’s the risk you take with Primark!

I love the flowers, they have both a safety pin and a hair clip on the back so you can attach them to your clothes/bag or pop them in your hair! I think I’ll be putting mine on my boyfriend blazer to refresh the look a bit. The shoes I already have from last year in a bright pink colour but when I saw them in that gorgeous peachy pink tone I had to have them! The necklace is quite typical of me, I had a similar one but with just chains (no pearls) and ribbon fasten at the back from urban outfitters, but it and a few other things have mysteriously gone missing. I keep telling myself they’re in my room someplace but in reality they’ll probably never be seen again! This happens a few times a year and I think my house must have a mini black hole somewhere in it!

These are a little unrelated, I bought them a few weeks ago but today I started sorting through my discarded shopping bags and came across them! They were from the Office sale and were only £5 each, how could I leave them behind at those kinds of prices?! Anyway you can never have too many flats – they’re just so practical I think I’ve actually convinced myself I’m being really sensible when I buy more! The gold pair are I admit a little tacky, but I am determined to make them work somehow! I think they’ll look pretty good with some black skinny jeans and a plain T-shirt - now all I need is for the weather to warm up a bit so that I can get out of my Ugg boots!

The start of 40 days and 40 nights of severe temptation!

Lent has officially started and as I look around my room I know immediately what I must give up – shopping!

My love for shopping has gotten a little out of hand lately, I essentially go to Primark or any sale that I spot, buy what I think is a great bargain at the time, then bring it home and forget about it! At the moment my room is full of shopping bags (some of which are from over a month ago!) with the shopping still inside untouched!

On top of this I am a terrible hoarder! I find it soo difficult to throw anything away, even if it is completely useless! I have a whole draw full of ugly T-shirts that I don’t like but I keep in just in case I need something to wear while decorating or something like that, which I never do!

Even though I haven’t given anything up for Lent for a number of years now I know that I really need to break this habit! So for the next month and a half I am going to rely on the tonnes of clothes I’ve hoarded over the years and start opening some of those bags! I’m quite excited to rediscover my wardrobe, it really is true that you only reach for about 10% of your wardrobe at a time, and most of my stuff hasn’t seen the light of day for a while now! Maybe I can even pass them off as new? :s

Anyway 40 days isn’t really that long - is it?

Wanted!!.. gorgeous roomy bag with small price tag!

On a visit to topshop today I spied this lurvely bag, just the kind of thing I want, but alas no price tag.... so i took it to the cash desk to ask for the price - £50 I'm told, hmm maybe I'll pop in for it next pay day?

I continue to look around (mainly the sales rails - even those items were slightly above my budget!) and about 5 minutes later the sales assistant comes running over to me with the bag - 'sorry my mistake it's actually £80!'

Now I'd been hoping she'd run over to tell me it was in the sale! wishful thinking! So the hunt for my new bag goes on ... Its not that I don't think its worth the money (although £80??!) its just that I know how easily things get ruined once theyre in my hands! Its really not worth me spending lots of money on anything, although I do make the occasional exception when I feel like spoiling myself!

Not the best start!

Soo, healthy not so much - I had a giant Mars bar and loadsa cheese! And be more asertive? Yeah I'm now working till 9 at night tomorrow when I shud be finishing at 6! I think I still need to work on that!

But I did buy some make-up to cheer me up! I was really drawn to the bright colours but I'm not sure I'll be brave enough to wear them! It's the Sunset Strip eyeshadow and eyeliner kit from the Famous range by Sue Moxley. I bought this in superdrug - I think it might be exclusive to them? Didn't know who Sue Moxley was when I bought this but having googled her she is apparantly a celebrity make-up artist and beauty journalist who is marrying David Van Day and according to the Mirror may have had an affair with Dr Hilary Jones! What would we do without Google?!

So here we have (clockwise from left) Olivia Orange, Judy Blue, Marilyn Mauve, Elizabeth Yellow, Betty Green and Lauren Lilac

Im not sure how your supposed to pull off yellows and oranges, I may have to find some tutorials on you tube!

It also comes with 'magic touch liquid' which you dip into the powder to make a liquid eye colour - can't wait to try that!

Here are some quick swatches I did, the photo didn't come out very well :(

From the top left this shows blue, orange, lilac, green, yellow and mauve.

Straight away I was disapointed with the green - I always seem to use green or purple on my eyes and it seems to be hard to find a well pigmented green for some reason.

The colours that really stand out are the blue, orange and yellow - all colours that I've never really used before but here is an opportunity to try something new!

And here is the box, I don't know why they show the pink on here since there isn't a colour like that inside - bit misleading :s

So I'm going to try these colours out and hopefully have some fun trying out new looks and post the results on here! (good or bad!)

A Brand New Blog

Hi! so this blog will be mainly kinda like a journal where I can put all my random thoughts, and about me getting my life on track and also about shopping I guess since I do that a lot!

I'm hoping that by making myself write everything down I'll be motivated into actually making a change!

So a few things about me: I graduated last year but as of yet I havn't gotten myself a decent job! I like going out with friends, watching movies, music.. all the usual stuff! I also love fashion and make-up, also kinda typical I guess! And I love love love reading blogs and watching peoples You tube videos, it satisfies my nosy side!

So some of the things I'm hoping to achieve (-kind of like late new years resolutions!) :

1. Be healthier

2. Decide what I want to do with my life

3. Get a good job (kind of linked with 2!)

4. Be a better person

5. Be more assertive!

So yeah most are kind of vague but I'm gonna try and think of a plan of action to achieve these! The first thing I think I need to do is start on number 1 and get rid of the biscuits! I've had nearly a whole packet today :s although to be fair they were chocolatey oaty ones! Mmmm!
